19-Year-Old Killed, Another Man Injured In Single-Vehicle Stony Brook Crash

One man is dead and another is hospitalized with serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash on Long Island.

The wreck happened at around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, in Stony Brook, near the intersection of Stony Brook Road and North Country Road.

Suffolk County Police said a sanitation worker called 911 after a GMC vehicle with two occupants struck a tree and overturned. Emergency crews found both men inside the vehicle and unconscious.

They were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where 19-year-old Patrick Kelly, of St. James, was pronounced dead, police said. The other man remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators are still trying to determine who was driving at the time of the crash. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Suffolk County Police at 631-854-8652.
